Players
The Players section includes people whose work helps students understand copywriting, persuasion, offer design, advertising, or direct response.
Player Types
Copywriters
People known primarily for writing or teaching copy. Their entry should link to books, letters, ads, courses, archives, or public examples.
Examples: Gary Halbert, Eugene Schwartz, Joanna Wiebe, John Caples.
Advertising And Rhetoric Figures
People whose work predates modern copywriting but directly shaped persuasive writing.
Examples: Aristotle, Cicero, Rosser Reeves, David Ogilvy.
Marketers And Offer Strategists
People whose frameworks materially affect copy strategy, offer design, funnels, or conversion messaging.
Examples: Alex Hormozi, Jay Abraham, Russell Brunson, Jeff Walker.
Regional References
People with meaningful influence in a specific market or language context. Regional context should be explicit, because influence can be strong locally without being global.
Examples: Brazilian copywriting, launch, funnel, and infoproduct figures.
Entry Requirements
Each player entry should include:
- A concise explanation of why the person belongs.
- At least one primary public reference.
- Links to study material when available.
- Regional context when relevant.
- Neutral language that avoids fan claims.
Claims To Avoid
Avoid unsupported claims like:
- “Best copywriter in the world.”
- “Most important marketer ever.”
- “Guaranteed to transform your copy.”
- “Legendary” without explaining why.
Use verifiable claims instead:
- “Known for email copywriting.”
- “Created the USP framework.”
- “Wrote a widely studied sales letter.”
- “Popularized launch-driven marketing in Brazil.”
Sorting
The root README sorts players alphabetically to avoid ranking debates. If a future section needs grouping, use clear labels such as Classical Rhetoric, Direct Response, Conversion Copywriting, or Brazil.
Quote Policy
Quotes should be short, relevant, and preferably sourced from public material. If attribution is uncertain, remove the quote or replace it with a factual summary.
